I’m working with a theme I call ‘automotive portraits’. The idea hit me as I was wandering the pits between heats while shooting a Time Attack in 2010 (two years ago this month, actually). I came across this COBB Viper and it looked…sinister just sitting there. So I thought a low, head on photo might capture that.

I’ve been wanting to explore the idea of automotive portraits more and the NYC Auto Show is in town this week. Besides the crowds, I couldn’t ask for a better group of ‘subjects’.
Honda Accord Coupe Concept.
Jaguar XKR-S.
BMW M3.
Nissan GT-R. I love the way this woman is approaching the car tentatively, as if the GT-R (affectionately known as Godzilla in previous generations) might bite.
Lotus Evora. ‘Put down the phone and let’s go play’.
More to come as I battle the crowds this weekend.
