As an automaker (not you, Toyota – the Supra and Celica All-Trac notwithstanding), you know you’ve done something right when one of your models lives on in infamy under the moniker, ‘Godzilla’. Man On The Move kindly used one of my photos for a blog post. I’ll skip the pleasantries and get right to it.
Man on the Move reader, NYC local and pro snapper Tom Olesnevich spotted this rare-to-the-U.S. R33 Skyline GT-R on Houston between Ludlow and Orchard. The Skyline GT-R, also known as Godzilla, is among the most iconic sports cars to ever come out of the Land of the Rising Sun. Mainly because it offered up Ferrari levels of performance for a lot less coin. Seeing one on these shores is not exactly an everyday occurrence considering they were never sold here. You’re actually looking at one of a handful of grey market examples that were imported and adapted for use in the U.S. It’s quite the scandal in case you’re interested in reading up on the controversy surrounding their importation.
Thanks Tom!
Houston between Ludlow and Orchard used to be my old stomping grounds, literally, I used to live around the corner. I miss it sometimes… sigh.
