Capitol Cross 2009

On Saturday the DC Metro area got between 2-3″ of snow, some suburbs registered a bit more.  Regardless, it made for a picturesque and MUDDY Capitol Cross 2009.  The USGP Finals were in Portland, OR this weekend as well – as much as I wanted to be out there, from what I was hearing (and later saw), the course was bone dry.

On the East Coast, however, things were ridiculously sloppy.  Let’s have a look.

Lap 1, snow punctuated by a muddy line:

Then the mud started flying:

A friend of mine commented that the mud looked like chocolate:

Could those ruts have been any deeper?

Hope that chocolate tastes good!

This being my first season of CX shooting, I’ve noticed that the sport has two ‘things’ in spades.  Mud and tongues wagging.  Look for a future post dedicated to that.

For now, I leave you with my fave shot of the weekend.  I call this ‘mud, snow, twists, turns and elevation’…

  • Isn’t it crazy that we’re both Half-Kenyan dudes from Illinois who went to Harvard, who’ve been on the cover of Rolling Stone, and play basketball, and have resoundingly good looks?
