I’m exhausted, so this is going to be short. Shot the 15th round of the Cadence Tuesday Night Series @ Floyd Bennett Field (yes, that’s a mouthful) this evening.
Since I don’t own a car, I rode my bike the length of Flatbush Ave to get to the race and back (30mi). Flatbush Ave sucks when there’s no traffic at 6am. When it’s 90 degrees and rush hour, it’s insanity. Google ‘dollar vans flatbush’ and you’ll get an idea of the madness that I rode through.
Anyway, with 30lbs of backpack on, I picked my way through the Flatbush Grand Prix and made it to Floyd Bennett Field. Located near the water in Brooklyn, it was NYC’s first municipal airport. The race is a large rectangle, run on an abandoned runway. Odd location. Great spot for flesh eating mosquitoes, though.
And now, the pics! (The full set should be up on nyvelocity.com shortly)
There was a crash in the Cat 5′s. And yes, that’s bloody water dripping off of his hand.

The law of averages says, ‘ride a bike long enough, you’re gonna fall.’ And fall this Kissena rider did. Didn’t get too banged up though, and was in pretty decent spirits afterward. Here’s to speedy healing.
Between the overcast skies and killer mosquitoes, this definitely wasn’t my best set. But I think I got some decent grabs. You can view the entire gallery, here.
Riding back home over the Manhattan Bridge, I grabbed this pic. There are a few subways that run over the bridge, making it vibrate all the time. Defintely not easy to take a night shot…anyhow, I dig this one because you can just make out the bridge to the left.

Love the city lights! Great pic Tom!!!
