Al Toefield Memorial Road Race

Craig and I went to shoot the Al Toefield Memorial Road Race in Prospect Park on Saturday.  The race started at 6:30am.  Getting into the park from lower Manhattan at that hour proved to be a giant pain in the butt as the subways are running on wacky schedules at that time of night/early morning.

It’s always a pleasant surprise to bump into folks coming home from a late night out, when you’re just getting your day started…really puts things into perspective.

Anyhow, Craig brought out his shiny new 5D MkII, while I toted along my trusty D40 and coffee mug.

This was definitely a learning experience for me.  I learned that a) I want more camera b) I NEED more lens.

Breaking away:

Check the expression.  Someone’s digging deep to bridge that gap:

This is one of my faves.  Craig, thanks for holding still!

Fountain/sculpture on the way out of the park that I thought was neat:

All in all, it was a great experience.  I’m already looking forward to shooting the next race.  The rest of the pics can be seen on my Smugmug, here.
